The Forest of Gray lies in a remote part of the Gray Forest, about 60 silvans west of Hilgarrad Fortress, one of the northernmost settlements in Edilyn Forest. The Gray Forest is known to have formerly had several communities; presumably many of the antique graywood products found in the Fifth were made by their people.

The tree will not grow in other areas, making cultivation near settled areas impossible.
