Hilgarrad Fortress is a castle in Edilyn Forest. It is the northern-most settlement in the Fifth of Trees. It supports a modest population.
Overview
The site is located north of Colnem, its supporting town, which connects it to Edilyn's road network and Great Lake Taddan. The fortress was constructed to defend Edilyn's northern hinterland from any possible Corthan invasion. It has since grown into a town in its own right. Its proximity to the Wild Dark supports its continued habitation for defensive purposes. It is also used as a base of operations to exploit the abundance of natural resources in the area.
