Talkyra Canyon, Haraka Falls and the Underground River

Talkyra Canyon is a large canyon that serves as most of the southern border of the Fifth of Trees. To its south is Belegon and the rest of the continent. It is coursed by the Talkyra Canyon river, which carries water from both the eastern and western oceans and terminates at the mouth of the Underground River, just north of Haraka Falls. It is extremely deep and sheer-sided.

Features

The Golden Bridge: An ancient bridge that spanned the canyon north of Mattinas, carrying a road that enters the Old Forest. Details of its construction are lost to history. It was the only means of travel into or out of the Fifth of Trees for centuries. Its collapse in relatively recent times suddenly isolated the Fifth from the rest of the civilized world.

Haraka Falls: The Northern River flows from within Belegonian territory to its terminus at the edge of the canyon, forming this waterfall. Water from the river plunges into the canyon below and feeds the latter part of the Talkyra Canyon river and the Underground River.

The entrance of the Underground River: A cavernous opening into the earth at the bottom of the canyon, at its ultimate eastern edge. It is huge, and utterly black inside. The river flows more or less straight into the earth, where it eventually drains into a network of underground waterways.
