The Old Forest within the Fifth of Trees.

The Old Forest is one of the major Forest Regions of the Fifth of Trees. It is the westernmost of these, bordering the Western Wood, the Southern Forest, and northern Belegon. It lies on the northern side of Talkyra Canyon.

History

Most of the Old Forest and Western Wood were part of Mattinas, a defunct kingdom. After the collapse of the Golden Bridge, the region fell into disarray followed by a long period of stagnation. During this time, it came under the influence of an evil power, based in Doriandan, the region's only city, which has caused the entire region to be haunted. Most notably, the Ammathany Palace, a Mattin royal residence, has been occupied by the ghost of the kingdom's last ruler for decades.

Sites

Although the Old Forest has no capital or governing body, it is a populated region. Its frontier is enforced by Edilyn, which is on friendly terms with the people of the region.

Settlements

  • Doriandan is the region's only city. It often operated as the Mattin capital, being the site of one of the three royal residences of the former kingdom.
  • Golden Bridge
  • Tito
